Opportunities in Education
- Founded in 1955, International Schools Services, (ISS) is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to the educational excellence for children attending international schools worldwide. Hosts hiring fairs and has position postings.
- Council of International Schools maintains a database of qualified teachers and sponsors four recruitment fairs annually.
- The International Educator provides both online and offline resources and vacancies for international teaching opportunities.
- Search Associates is an organization that places teachers, administrators, and interns in international schools around the world.
- Teachabroad.com is an on-line resource for international teaching positions.
- University of Northern Iowa Overseas Placement Service for Educators offers information about teaching abroad as well as a career fair attended by schools around the world.
- U.S. Department of State Office of Overseas Schools’ site lists government supported international schools by region and provides information about teaching overseas.
- Department of Defense Education Activity’s site provides information regarding teaching in DODEA schools, which provide education for the children of military and civilian families throughout the world.
- The Peace Corps’ education volunteers introduce innovative teaching methodologies, encourage critical thinking in the classroom, and integrate issues like health education and environmental awareness into English, math, science, and other subjects in countries around the world.
- International Baccalaureate has three programs for students aged 3 to 19 that help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. There are more than 775,000 IB students at 2,816 schools in 138 countries.
- The Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program offers the opportunity for classroom teachers with at least five years of experience to participate in a direct exchange with a teacher from one of seven other countries.

- Dave’s ESL Cafe site connects ESL and EFL teachers and students from around the world. Also includes an international job board.

- Teach with Africa works to break down the economic and social barriers to education in Africa by sending teams of educators to implement projects in underserved communities through an exchange of teaching and learning.
- Association of International Schools in Africa represents international schools on the continent of Africa and has a membership of schools which range in size from 20 to 3600 students.
Volunteer Opportunities
- Volunteer Kenya / ICODEI is a grassroots volunteer organization that has been active since 1998. One unique feature is that they operate through a partnership between overseas volunteers and a staff of local Kenyans.
Opportunities Teaching English
- Footprints Recruiting, Inc. includes links to ESL teaching opportunities in Korea, Taiwan, China, Chile, Japan, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand.
- Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (JET) aims to promote grass roots internationalisation at the local level by inviting young overseas graduates to assist in international exchange and foreign language education.
- Education Program in Korea (EPIK) is a program affiliated with the Korean Ministry of Education that hires native English speaker to help improve the English language abilities of students and teachers.
Volunteer Opportunities
- Outreach International is a small organisation that places committed volunteers in carefully selected, meaningful projects. Opportunties include teaching, administration, counseling, etc.
- TeachNZ has information for overseas trained teachers looking at coming to teach in New Zealand.
- Teaching Opportunities in Great Britain
- American Turkish Society’s Curriculum Development Grant Program aims to encourage the development of Turkey-related curriculum by offering funds to elementary and secondary school teachers in the U.S. to develop innovative curricula, projects, and other classroom activities about Turkey. The most qualified curriculum development grantees will also have the opportunity to participate in exchange program trips to Health and Education Foundation (SEV) schools in Istanbul, Izmir or Tarsus.
